Scotland’s ultimate luxury train, The Royal Scotsman, has introduced a brand new and authentic custom-made tailoring service, ideal for those with a love of Scotland and its heritage.  Working in partnership with a local family run company, using The Royal Scotsman’s own tartan, the new service will give guests a truly unique keepsake from their journey.

As well as experiencing a magnificent insight into Scottish heritage, guests of The Royal Scotsman can now take a part of Scotland back home. The new Highland Dress tailoring service is available, and is made by our partners, Kinloch Anderson, in Royal Scotsman’s very own pure wool tartan; an elegant and heartening blend of navy, plum and mulberry. Kinloch Anderson, a family company, are renowned for their high-class service and reputation since 1868, and even acquired The Royal Warrant of Appointments as Tailors and Kiltmakers to HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince of Wales.

Before boarding the train in Edinburgh, guests who have chosen this service will be invited to Kinloch Anderson’s showroom for a personalised fitting by a tailor for their special Highland Dress. There will be an assortment of garments to choose from, such as, a traditional kilt, Argyle cut jacket, tartan trousers or waistcoat and for ladies, a ‘Highland Fling’ long skirt or a-line ‘Tea’ skirt.

Those who use this service further benefit, as they need not worry about searching for a formal outfit for evenings on the train, as they will be able to borrow a set of Highland Dress from Kinloch Anderson, and their made-to-measure garments will be sent to their home address within 8-10 weeks. Prices start from £190.00 and an appointment can be arranged upon booking a journey.

The Royal Scotsman offers a host of varied journeys with two, three, four, five and seven night trips departing from Edinburgh and exploring many areas of the beautiful Scottish landscape. Prices start from £2,140 per person for a two-night ‘Highland’ journey.
